Why Homebirth?
The Duchess of Sussex - aka Meghan Markle's - decision to birth at home has shone an international spotlight on this birthing choice. Is it safe? Why do women do it? For the homebirth curious I've reposted an article I wrote a few years ago inspired by my own very supported homebirth of our son Jax. ** Latest Australian data* shows that Homebirth rates increased by 56% from 2009-10. U.S statistics** tell a similar story with Homebirth rates there increasing by 41% from 2004-

Women, Gender, Spirituality & Social Justice
I LOVE learning! For the last 10 years I've really felt to do a Master's Degree and researched every one I could find related to the integration of Consciousness and Social Change. The US is really great when it comes to leading edge degrees, but the ones I found either didn't feel quite right or they didn't offer any online classes which I needed as I'm here in Australia. About a year ago or so, I saw this: MA in Women, Gender, Spirituality & Social Justice. Every cell in my

Letting go: surrender vs giving up
Happy May Day! It feels like a good month to turn a corner if your year, like mine, has been relentless with constant change and life happenings! I sat down with the lovely Peggy Lee Colonques, a fellow Aussie, for her free online event Happiness Now Project. The theme of the event is "How to bounce back from disappointment and discover your life's purpose." When Peggy asked me had I ever experienced disappointment I thought where do I start! I think anyone with any sort of d

Divine IVF
Once upon a time I thought I would never ever try IVF. I thought “If it doesn’t happen naturally then it’s not meant to be.” I had a big fear around ‘interfering’ with the process. What if it wasn’t meant to be, and I ‘made’ it be, and something terrible happened? I had huge issues with the idea of inhaling drugs every day to shut down my ovaries, then injecting myself with drugs each night to rev them up again. The idea of conceiving a baby with so much medical and scientifi

Fertility & Flowers: blooming in their own way
We have this little flower plant on our front porch. It doesn't bloom very often or for long, but when it does it is so beautiful. It bloomed this week, just as I went to get some fertility tests done. I thought that was a good sign ✔️ As I watched the screen and saw an egg preparing to ovulate I was so excited that my body was doing that! After nearly 3 years of trying to conceive our second bub, at times it has felt like my body has packed up shop despite every effort to re

Full Moon, fertility and so many feelings
A Full Moon was rising on our last night at the Rez last week. The Lakota don't have a word for goodbye, instead they say Toksha Ake meaning see you later or see you again. Big Wopila to everyone and everything there for as usual a truly powerful and beautiful time.
I was feeling so emotional prior to that last day. It was a Full Moon, Venus was and still is doing her Retrograde thing, and we completed our final thank you ceremony with the Medicine man and spirits, closing

Ix-Chel Mayan Goddess
Ix-Chel, Mayan Goddess of Love, Fertility, Midwifery, Medicine, Rainbows and Weaving! There in the background you can see the ancient remains of her Temple. It is located on the southern tip of Isla Mujeres, Mexico (translates to the Island of Women, so called because of the many carved images of women found there in honour of Ix-Chel). Perfectly positioned (as are all ancient sites!) on the highest point of the Yucatan Peninsula, where the Sun's rays hit Mexico first each da
