July 30 is a day to raise awareness about Human Trafficking, the “fastest growing form of international crime”
🌺 Trafficking in persons is now the THIRD most profitable business for organized crime, behind drugs and arms.
🌺 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders every year, according to the U.S. State Department. 80% are female, and HALF are CHILDREN.
🌺 2 MILLION CHILDREN, the majority of them girls, are sexually exploited in the multi-billion dollar commercial sex industry.
🌺 80% of documented cases of human trafficking in the U.S., are for the purposes of sexual exploitation. The United States is listed as the most common destination for victims.
🌺 Over 30,000 unaccompanied minors were apprehended along the southern border of U.S. and Mexico. (from 2010-2018)
🌍 Source: includes other resources and Actions you can take to help.
🌍 As always use your discernment as unfortunately there are organisations that use child protection as their front as a way of a) having access to children; b) stopping genuine child safety investigators and activists from being able to bring abusers to justice and c) protecting the power-brokers.
🌍 Trafficking involves all sorts of people, at the highest levels of society.
❤️ Bravo to the genuine front-line defenders and protectors of children ✊🏽
