Lunar Eclipse and The Sandman

Today we had a Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn (24 degrees), with Pluto almost right alongside it (22 degrees) adding to the emotional intensity. Lunar Eclipses reveal things. They bring hidden influences to the surface – emotions, insights, secrets. They are associated with endings and letting go – of habits, patterns, wounds, dreams or even people. A Lunar Eclipse can feel like a Full Moon x 100 so if you’re a sensitive person you might be feeling particularly on edge this week – some people feel it a couple days prior, others in the couple of days following.

Tips:

As always, deep, slow breaths help to calm and soothe.

Being in nature, being in water, doing things that feel nurturing.

If you’re feeling more anxious than usual, reduce anything that may be

over-stimulating your nervous system: crowds, too much screen time/social media time, certain types of sugar, excess coffee.

You know your body. There is no one size fits all,

and what worked for you yesterday may not gel with you today.

Pay attention to what your body needs each unique day.

Pluto is the cosmic scuba-diver, so the Lunar Eclipse is in good company here as together they urge you to dive deep into your soul, dredge old muck out, cleanse the waters, retrieve buried treasure and return to the surface lighter, clearer, richer (spiritually/emotionally).

This Plutonic Eclipse, more than your usual eclipse, can leave you feeling somewhat like you’re undergoing a death/rebirth process in one or more areas of your life. This process is like the Tower card in the Tarot, where we have the collapse of the old, followed by the phoenix rising from the ashes, transformed by what has occurred. It is like an egg cracking, so that the chick can emerge. First there is what looks like a break, or breakdown of something, but from there we can then have the breakthrough, and then new life, new chapters, new beginnings can form.

This is happening to us on a personal level. It’s happening to us on a social, collective, global level. We are going to see huge breakthroughs occur as the Epstein case unfolds. The Earth is also going through a greater than normal shifting process this month with around double the usual amount of 6.0 or higher earthquakes. (Source: USGS for figures and explained very well by Dutchsinse).

This week we also have Saturn in Capricorn (16 degrees), in opposition to Venus in Cancer. This can be a bit of a “where the rubber meets the road” week where Venus is saying “This is what I want, need and deserve”, while father Saturn is asking the tough love questions: “How are you going to get that? What are you going to do to get there? Is this person/this direction right for you? Is it good for you?”

Old issues around self-worth can come up, and you might have to really summon up your inner power to release old voices of authority that are still holding you back.

Journalling Prompt:

Imagine Venus and Saturn at a table.

What does Venus want to tell Saturn

about what you really need, want and deserve?

What does Saturn want to tell Venus

about what you need to do more of, and less of,

so that you can be more in alignment

with what you want, need and deserve?

Power, control and authority will continue to be big issues throughout the year because life is trying to get us to claim our own inner power, realise where we have handed over authority, and see clearly anything that has had unhealthy control over us. This includes everything from our inner subconscious beliefs, to external ”social-behaviour” programming (eg media messages) that influences how we think, what we think, how we act, what we buy etc.

Now, more than ever, you need to be self-aware when it comes to the massive amount of information and revelations coming your way. This means to be aware of your genuine feelings and your genuine emotional response, not the one that has been manufactured for you.

Now, more than ever, aim to be open-minded and have the mindset of an investigative observer – neither dismissing anything as ridiculous, impossible or unbelievable, nor taking things as the full truth without further exploration. For too many decades the mainstream media have been viewed as the source of truthful news for people, and so our collective “truth biceps” didn’t get a workout. Then the internet came along, and we found alternative ways to find information. Now it’s a crowded mosh-pit filled with every possible shade of truth and lies. We have to be patient, yet diligent, as we sift through the sands of this mosh-pit: finding pieces of the puzzle here, pieces there, connecting dots, seeing how things fit together, and seeing how other things don’t fit together.

I get the image of sand being thrown into people’s eyes. This sand distracts so we look over here and not there. This sand distorts vision, so we can’t see clearly. If you can imagine a yard full of people who have just had sand thrown in their eyes you would see a lot of confusion, people stumbling about, losing their balance as they try to get the sand out. In the process they bump into other people. Someone pushes back, a fight breaks out, now we have division and chaos. This is intentional. Who is The Sandman that’s doing this? We are slowly finding out.

And, how crazy is this (or not, seeing as synchronicities are happening constantly these days!) right after I wrote the above I did a search for The Sandman to remind myself what happens in the story and - what are the odds – Warner Bros have just signed a deal with Netflix (as in yesterday!) to do a The Sandman TV series based on Neil Gaiman’s comic book series.

In the original European folk tales, The Sandman was good, sprinkling magical dust in children’s eyes so that they would have good dreams. However, this character took a dark turn in an 1816 book Der Sandmann. In the comic book series The Sandman is Dream, Morpheus King of Dreams, one of the seven Endless, seven siblings who rule the world:

“The characters embody powerful forces or aspects of the universe…They have existed since the dawn of time and are thought to be among the most powerful beings in the existence. They are distinct from and more powerful than most gods. Dream is the protagonist” – from The Endless

Well, well, well, how very interesting. So, we have this theme of The Sandman present around this Lunar Eclipse. There’s a huge feeling of watching magicians, using sleight of hand, so that we start to question everything – ultimately a good thing, but it can also be seriously unsettling!

What’s true, what’s not? Who are the good guys? Who are the bad guys? Is that person politically incompetent – or has had his or her hands tied by powers higher up? Is this public person really who they appear to be, or are they an informant, under-cover agent or spy? Is this person just a Hollywood actor or are they a CIA asset or mind-controlled slave born into ritual abuse and raised to fulfil a role? Is that humanitarian initiative, empowerment/networking organisation or inspirational leader something or someone to aspire to or is it/are they a front for human trafficking? This isn’t the plot of a science fiction movie. These are, unfortunately, questions that we now have to ask as we discover more about the dysfunctional world that has been constructed around us – without our knowledge or consent.

We can’t walk around being paranoid or suspicious of everything, but at the same time, this is a time when you need to have your eyes open. Stay connected to your heart. Feel your way to the truth. Remember the analogy of the egg and the chick – yes there are a lot of eggs breaking, and our old understandings regarding the world will be cracked apart. Yet the chicks represent a free humanity. We are reclaiming our power, regaining our freedom, awakening, becoming aware of who we really are, and moving forward to create a whole new way of living and being.

Some of us are cracking those eggs open.

Some of us are focused on the chicks and creating the new.

Others are doing both simultaneously.

Others are asleep when it comes to one topic but wide awake on another.

Everyone is playing a role right now.

The challenge: Keep your eyes open while you sift the sand,

and try not to get it into your eyes.
