Creating Our New Reality
Transcript of Speech
By Dana
On the weekend of 3-5 June on the shores of Lake Maggiore in North Italy a group of passionate, action-oriented people came together from organizations all around the world, to discuss their visions for peace on the planet. Speakers ranged from representatives of the United Nations and World Bank to Tibetan and Mayan spiritual leaders. Talks focused on the areas of education, media, science, economy and spirituality, and suggested practical ways in which we can apply these visions to global and local systems. Australian visionary and writer Dana Mrkich, who produced and presented the ‘TruthSeeker’ radio show in Sydney for 18 months, spoke on the Media Panel about the power and the potential of the media as a tool for the facilitation of inner and outer peace, to influence positive change and be a force in the creation of a new reality. Here is a transcript of her speech:
Buongiorno, Good Afternoon.
I would like you all to imagine now an Earth filled with a loving humanity, living in harmony with each other and with the planet. Imagine we are those humans, and this is our new reality. I believe the majority of humans want global peace. I believe it is the true nature of people to extend compassion and loving kindness to one another. So why are we living in a world that is filled with such personal and planetary turmoil? Perhaps it is because we have given away our power to systems and beliefs that do not serve us. Whatever we do or don't do right now will determine humanity's future direction. If we desire to last as a society, and I believe it is our destiny to last, if we wish for Earth to last as a living planet, we need to question the systems and beliefs we have created and determine which are serving us and which are causing chaos.
We all have a part to play in being responsible for where we are headed. We have all experienced the consequences of action without consciousness. We have all experienced moments or lifetimes of consciousness without action. It is time to merge our knowing with our doing to create conscious action. Conscious action can create powerful, positive change in our world.
When I speak about conscious action I am speaking about wholeness, about the integration of our spirituality with our human-ness. For many years working with people in their spiritual awakening I have noticed there is a disconnection, a separation within people and this is reflected outside. Many people are only focused on their spirituality and trying to escape their human-ness, their body, their physicality and connection to this Earth, and their ability to act. Many others are focused only on their physical selves, on the material, and have forgotten their connection to their spirituality.
We need to acknowledge both our human-ness and our spirituality in order to do what we came here to do, and be who we came here to be.
The key to this integration is our heart. It is our heart that is the bridge between our spirituality and human-ness. Energetically it is the heart that is the bridge between the upper and lower chakras. It is the heart that will guide us in every moment if we listen. If we follow our guidance each moment we will naturally be led to the thoughts, words and actions that are most right for us.
By acknowledging all of who we are and by following our guidance in each moment we can then find our own inner peace and balance, and then extend that to the world outside us.
Many people are feeling a hole within. I believe none of us have holes, rather we are sensing the parts of us we have forgotten, repressed or hidden. Instead of needing to fill our hole – h o l e – we are being urged from within to feel our whole – w h o l e. There are no mistakes in the synchronicities of language.
It is no longer sustainable, or appropriate, for us to keep running the world in the way we have been. It is time now to move out of apathy and find solutions that will create a more balanced, harmonious world.
It is time to create a world where all people receive all that they need. It is time to create a world where all people receive basic human rights and equality of opportunity. It is time to create a world where all living beings, including the planet herself, are treated with respect and ethical behaviour. It is time to call out for legitimate representatives of the people amongst our governments, media and organisations. You can be that caller. You can be that representative. It is time to support guardians of justice, those who look out for the good of all versus the good of some. You can be that support. You can be that guardian. It is time for a new guiding force to emerge, a force that will lead the world with compassion, wisdom, fairness, love and truth. You can be that force. You can be that leader.
I would like to highlight today the power of the media as a tool for positive change, conscious action and the creation of a new reality. Particularly I want to mention the potential of independent media to become an evolutionary leader in fostering the expansion of inner and outer peace amongst people and our planet. I believe that in order to have world peace we all need to find our own inner peace. For it is the state of our inner being that determines how we perceive and treat the world around us. However it is the outer world that provides triggers and opportunities for our inner processes, and it is here that I see a place for the media to take a higher role in those processes.
I believe it is not only possible but absolutely our next essential step to create, and demand, a media that is used to inspire, inform and empower people. The prime source of information for many people is increasingly coming from visual media with growing numbers of the world population having access to television and the internet. So, we need to accept that visual media is a major influential force in the way that people see the world, and in the way they see themselves. I feel the media are greatly responsible for encouraging the climate of fear and mis-information that much of our world is currently in. A shift in focus on the kinds of stories we provide and are exposed to will have a profound effect on the vibration of our planet and humanity.
I met a journalist the other day who had 25 years experience working as a foreign correspondent for a major US paper. He told me he had worked for media reform much of his life and didn’t believe it would ever happen. I told him I believed it would happen, it had to happen, and it is happening right now. The Carnegie Report recently revealed that young people are increasingly turning to alternative sources of media for their news, particularly those sources found online. It is time for traditional media sources to change the way they present news and the kind of information they present. They have to change if they want to keep people watching and reading their media.
So many people say to me the word isn’t going to change. I believe it is going to change, it has to change and it will change. It is changing right now. The only reason people think the world isn’t going to change is because so much of the world they see is the one presented to them through the eyes of the current media. They aren’t being shown the many great people and projects working around the world right now for positive change and transformation. They aren’t being shown all of the truth.
My intention is to create and encourage media that lets the world know about the many wonderful projects and people that are working for peace and healing, and to provide a medium that can assist and guide people through these important times. Most importantly, to create a media that encourages people to question current reality, to empower people with the truthful status of the world and provide potential pathways and solutions that they can explore for themselves so that people can make more informed choices and decisions.
There are thousands of journalists, producers and film-makers all around the world right now who have the exact same intention. I would like to acknowledge Oprah Winfrey in this moment as an inspirational example of what is possible when media is used with heart and integrity.
A primary concern shared by all who have a passion for providing people with truth and inspiration is that all too often these days the decision-makers who make the final broadcasting decisions have strong ties to corporations and governments. Mainstream media broadcasters often decide what we get to see, and what we don’t based on these ties. This gives us an inaccurate and warped version of reality. Instead a mock reality is being constructed for us, one which serves the greater purpose of the reality-constructers – which in my opinion are certain corporate and government bodies, with the aid of the media.
So if we acknowledge the vast power and influence the media have on the state of our inner and outer worlds, let’s do all that we can to either encourage it to change, or create your own if you feel inspired to do so. Send your press releases to a variety of sources, from the largest to the smallest, you never know who will pick it up, who will read it, who will be inspired by it. If you are interested in creating your own production it doesn’t matter how small you start, it only matters that you start. Use the internet. Use community and local networks. For all those who think you need to be large to make a difference, I will remind you that Rupert Murdoch started with a small Adelaide newspaper in South Australia. He is now one of the world’s primary media owners, with a strong influence over what the majority of the audience is and isn’t being exposed to.
It is time now to lead ourselves and our planet back into a state of balance. We are now in a profound process of awakening as we prepare for a new cycle of evolution. It is time now to open ourselves up to a new reality where harmony, unity, peace, love and truth form the foundation stones of a new world.
Thank you, Grazie.
